Located between the river communities of Moscow and Neville in Clermont County, Maple Creek Artisan Center and School provides the community an opportunity to enrich their lives through art by participating in classes and workshops in traditional Appalachian arts. It is the vision of Maple Creek Artisan School to expand and grow into a regional destination for artisans and become a nationally recognized Traditional Arts School. Classes are offered in many traditional Appalachian art forms including pottery, wood crafts, blacksmithing, basketry, and stained glass. For more information on classes offered, click here.
The Maple Creek Artisan Center and School are housed in a historic restored log building, where the 5,000 square foot gallery provides traditional handcrafted artists a place to sell and teach their craft. The gallery is a perfect place to find a unique gift rich in Appalachian heritage. In addition to the gallery, Maple Creek Artisan Center operates one of the largest wood fired kilns in Ohio and is open to the public. As interest has grown in the Artisan Center and School, plans are underway to build a new pottery studio on the hill behind the gallery. To assist in fundraising for this project, the Center has started a Buy-A-Brick program. The bricks, made from clay donated by local resident Gary Adkins, will be formed, engraved and fired on site by volunteers. These bricks will be the facade of the new studio.
