Batavia, Ohio. The Clermont County Office of Economic Development (OED) has received an award recognizing its outstanding Web site, from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). The award was announced during a ceremony at the IEDC annual conference held in Phoenix, Arizona on Tuesday, September 18, 2007. "Economic development efforts have always played a vital role in shoring up the nation's economy, one locality at a time," said Ronnie L. Bryant, IEDC chairman. "As our population grows exponentially and as we continue to overcome challenges, both new and longstanding, these efforts have taken on an even greater importance. The award serves as a salute to pacesetting organizations like the Clermont County Office of Economic Development for leading the charge."
Competing in the category of General Purpose Web Site, by organizations serving areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, Clermont County was a clear standout, according to the IEDC. The site, www.ClermontCountyOhio.Biz, is a critical communication tool in the county's economic development efforts. Intended to serve as a primary portal for information on Clermont County, the site provides relevant, current information on incentives, culture/entertainment, operating costs, regional resources, and available land/buildings. Also, the Clermont County Office of Economic Development was a leader in the Cincinnati metro region by being the first to integrate the county's GIS capabilities with a GIS hosted land and building database in early 2005.
“I am honored that the Clermont OED Web site was selected for this prestigious award,” said Clermont OED Director Andy Kuchta. “Through the site, we hope that current and potential businesses will have a snap shot of the many services we offer and further our message that Clermont County is an aggressive and proactive business partner.”
