Paxico, a towelette and moist cotton pad manufacturing company will complete construction of a 10,000 square foot expansion to its facility this month. Located on State Route 276, just east of Owensville, Paxico employs 15 full-time employees and uses 7 to 15 temporary employees depending on order backlogs.
The expansion will allow Paxico to store all its supplies in the same facility where they are used. Presently, when supplies are not in use, they are stored off-site and have to be trucked in. Once complete, Paxico will have approximately 27,000 square feet of warehouse and manufacturing space.
The company fills and packages liquid/fabric combination packets, such as sanitizing wipes, home dry cleaning kits, suntan lotions, insect repellants, and automotive wipes. Kimberly Clarke, parent company of brands such as Cottonelle and Scott Paper, is a major customer of Paxico.
Paxico CEO, Bill Kearney founded the company in 2004 after selling J&B Systems (presently Diversapack) located next door. During the company planning stages, Bill consulted with partner Jackie Schmidt to determine exactly what the Paxico mission and product would be.
"We weren't sure what direction we were going to take, because I had signed a non-compete agreement with Diversapack. We brainstormed, came up with a list of our strengths, and looked at what was on the market. We ended up in the towelette packaging business," recollects Bill of the early days of Paxico, LLC.
In addition to the expansion, sales are up from last year and the company plans to hire 10 additional full-time employees in the next 24 months.
